Food Access

What is Food Access?

Food access refers to our ability to source quality, affordable food that’s healthy and adequate for our individual needs. Transportation, availability of healthy foods, and prices influence consumer choices and diet.

Why is Food Access important?

Some people and places, especially those with limited resources, often face greater barriers in accessing healthy and affordable food which may negatively affect diet and food insecurity. In Johnson County, over 15,200 people are reported food insecure (Source: Feeding America, 2019).
